We’re excited to announce that the Edwin S. “Porter” is making its return to the 3rd Annual Porter Film Fest! This special porter was created especially for the event by Yough River Brewing Co., and it was such a hit last two years that we had to bring it back.

Named in honor of Edwin S. Porter, this one-of-a-kind brew is the perfect way to celebrate our local filmmaking legend while enjoying an evening of classic silent cinema. 🎞️🍺

If you enjoyed it last year, you’ll be happy to see it return. And if you missed it, now’s your chance to give it a try!

Tickets are $40 and include admission to the program featuring two classic silent films with live orchestral accompaniment, two drinks, and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

Did You Know? 🎬🎵

Silent films were never actually silent.

During the golden age of silent cinema, movies were accompanied by live musicians who performed the score as the film played. Depending on the theater, that could be a single pianist, an organist, or even a full orchestra. The music helped tell the story, building suspense, adding humor, and bringing emotion to every scene.

We are so proud to have the incredible Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra yet again for this year's Porter Film Fest! Their authentic live performance recreates the magic of how audiences experienced silent films nearly a century ago.

If you attended last year, you know what an unforgettable experience it was. If you haven't experienced silent film with a live orchestra before, you're in for something truly special.

Before CGI and stunt doubles, there was Buster Keaton.

In The General, Keaton performed nearly all of his own stunts, including running across moving trains, climbing locomotives, and balancing on the cowcatcher as the train sped down the tracks.

His fearless performances are one of the reasons The General remains such an incredible film to watch nearly 100 years later.
