It’s been a long time since I’ve knitted baby booties and this time is a little different…

We are expecting a little girl this April who has been growing well at every appointment we’ve had to date. We’ve received extra care since I turned “geriatric” years old during this pregnancy this past week.

Our little one is a mover and groover now. We are excited to welcome our little rainbow after all the storms we weathered together. Knitting these booties and mitts for her felt healing in one of the most special ways.

New treat, old tricks.

I recently bought a rigid heddle loom so I could weave longer and wherever I want to take it. Today I realized it’s been quite a few years since I have touched my floor loom, but life happens. I’m exciting to be able to tackle some new work with this type of loom and weave some simple tabby scarves.

This is my first project on the loom and I already can’t wait to take it off.

This warp was on my frame loom for two months until I finally mustered up the creative energy to just play and see where the fibers led me.

Luckily, this cutie and two other heart weavings were finished. Keep an eye out for an Etsy shop update in the next few weeks. And if you see something you like here, you can always message me to purchase.

The best picture I took of this year’s ornament for my mom to hand to family and friends. Not completed but drying.

Thinking back on this series, I’ve been creating these for 10 years now. I was terrible at keeping one for myself so I do not have a record of all of them, but some of my fans do! After discussing this milestone with my mom, these may be the last in this series but who knows how I’ll feel come December 2024…

This in progress photo feels a lot like how 2023 felt and I imagine 2024 will continue to feel this way. Dreaming of a lot of things this year from prioritizing a more creative practice to focusing on ways to stress less and so much more.

Today marks the first day of October, the first day of a month dedicated to a lot of things, including Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.

Admittedly, this brings me a lot of mixed emotions and has me considering how time can be strange. I haven’t worked on this piece or any art in a long while (months to be honest), I just haven’t had it in me to do so. Yesterday, I started working on this piece. Today, I continue to intuitively weave this piece that will eventually be a complete heart. So here I am, muddling through many mixed emotions and finding the time to honor what my head and heart need.
