Old & Odd Curiosities

Old & Odd Curiosities Old & Odd Curiosities is a store in downtown Concord. Come explore the charmingly odd side of things. Chris & Pamela Ealey

Pamela crafts the magic, Chris finds the vintage, and together we fill the shop with affordable treasures that tell a story. Old and Odd Curiosities is a love story told through objects. As husband and wife curators, we bring together two visions: hers, a kind of salvaged alchemy - finding beauty in the tarnished and forgotten, transforming the worn into timeless art; his, an eye for the collectib

le, the curious, and the rare - treasures too unique to be overlooked. Together, we offer a collection of soulful curiosities and reimagined finds - pieces that whisper of their past while inviting new stories to unfold. Affordable, one-of-a-kind, and always conversation-worthy, our curiosities are more than decor. They are fragments of history, lovingly restored to live again.

Maybe.

IMHO, “maybe” is one of the most misunderstood words we use.

Technically, “maybe” is neutral. It means there’s a possibility of either outcome. If something is truly a 50/50 chance, then hearing “maybe” should leave us equally prepared for a yes or a no.

But I’ve realized I personally don’t experience “maybe” that way.
For me, “maybe” creates hope. 😒🤔

And that’s where “maybe” can also become one of the most disappointing words.

Because once I put hope into a “maybe,” I’m no longer emotionally at 50/50. I’ve started hoping for the outcome I want. So when the “maybe” eventually becomes no, it can feel a whole lot more disappointing than if I had simply been told “no” from the beginning.

Maybe the word itself isn't the problem.

Maybe it's the hope we attach to it.
So now I’m curious…
Does the word “maybe” create the illusion of hope for anyone else?
