✨ **Celebrating the next generation of artists!** ✨

What a beautiful performance by the creative dancers of Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) Long Island High School for the Arts lihsa_dance at this year’s Gold Coast Dance Festival!

Making their GCDF debut, these dedicated young artists shared the stage alongside an extraordinary lineup of professional dancers—an experience we hope will inspire, challenge, and stay with them as they continue to grow.

We’re especially excited to continue building our partnership with LIHSA and create unique, rewarding performance opportunities for serious arts students throughout our region.

The Gold Coast Dance Festival, presented annually by New York Dance Theatre, brings professional dance and diverse cultural traditions directly to our Long Island community—free and accessible to all. It is also an important gateway for young dancers to experience the professional dance world and perform alongside accomplished artists.

This year, more than 600 audience members gathered to celebrate dance under the open sky.

Pictured are LIHSA dancers performing “The Wheel” a collaborative piece created for Stage The Change .

Congratulations to these wonderful dancers—we were thrilled to have you with us!

Just days before Dolly Parton’s passing, we had the honor of presenting “Dolly” by MorDance MorDance at this year’s Gold Coast Dance Festival.

It feels especially poignant now to look back on this energetic and joyful work. Set to beloved Dolly Parton songs, MorDance’s original ballet brings together contemporary ballet, storytelling, humor, heart and the unmistakable warmth of Dolly’s music — exploring love, friendship, heartbreak, dreams and the courage to keep moving forward.

How incredibly fortunate we were to experience this beautiful tribute to her artistry and spirit, just days before saying goodbye.

Thank you to MorDance for bringing “Dolly” to the Gold Coast Dance Festival, and for giving us a beautiful moment that now carries even more meaning. ❤️

How lucky we were to witness the passion, artistry, and creativity of Jaileen Alandra and Bob G Amcnj Pro of Bob & Jaileen Dance Pros at this year’s Gold Coast Dance Festival — their first time joining us at GCDF. ❤️

Their performance of *Ne Me Quitte Pas* was a beautiful example of how movement can live somewhere between technique and instinct. It takes the precision and discipline of ballet to truly understand the feeling of freedom in flight — and it takes folk and social dance to understand how movement breathes with the music in ways no composition can notate.

This sensuous and deeply musical work brought all of that together: precision, connection, rhythm, vulnerability, and joy. A wonderful reminder that dance is not simply about the steps, but about what happens when the steps become feeling.

And we were especially fortunate to welcome Jaileen back to her alma mater studio to share that artistry with our students through a ballroom master class at Ohman School of Ballet. What a full-circle moment — from student, to artist, to teacher, inspiring the next generation.

This is exactly why we bring artists to our community. To witness. To learn. To be inspired. And to remember just how beautifully expansive dance can be.

Reminiscing on the beautiful Gold Coast Dance Festival earlier this month and the incredible artists who came from around the world to bring dance to our community. ✨
Here is Lorenzo Pagano Lorenzo Pagano Principal Guest Artist and Assistant Rehearsal Director of the Martha Graham Dance Company, presenting his own choreography, “Dream/Existence”. What a powerful opening to the show—bringing us all to our center, grounding our hearts, drawing us in, and inspiring our audience to unplug and reconnect with what truly matters most—reminding us, in the words of Alan Watts, that we are all part of “the very fabric and structure of existence itself.”

Thank you, Lorenzo, for sharing such a meaningful and beautiful work with us. 🖤
