🫟 Crazy Goat Fun! This one simply makes me smile. 😁 Goats have so much mischievous personality, the question is...how to paint it?

In order to make this painting POP I used two artistic devices.

1. Composition style.
The very structure of this painting was an attempt to add some crazy. The goat's ears and face are set at a rakish diagonal line drawing your eye to the ear which cuts in and out of the background.

2. Duotone Complementary Colors.
I simplified this Goat with two pigments: Windsor Newton's Yellow Ocher and Prussian Blue.
These Complementary colors are on opposite ends of the color wheel and make each other POP! 🫟

The harmony that the dual tones of this painting brings make for a cohesive transparent style that I think, adds a lot of flavor to the Goat.

Why is the ocean so beautifully complex? 🌅

Massive 22x30in watercolor painting, "Beyond the Sunset" 🌅, was a $300.00 commission by Echo Ridge Veterinary Hospital (my local vet) for their euthanasia room.
"Would you please paint some peaceful paw prints on a beach leading into a gorgeous pink sunset?"—Yes!

After much study of peaceful sunsets and oceans, I finished my largest painting ever personally attempted! It takes a whole separate set of tools and styles to paint extra-large in watercolor. It's a challenge to keep the water and paint flowing between drying times without creating hard paint edges or undesirable blossoms in the paint.It was so fun to paint in pink! 😊
