Happy International Stage Management Day!

Today, we’re celebrating our incredible Stage Managers! From calling every cue to keeping rehearsals on track, organizing backstage chaos, and making sure every production runs smoothly, our SMs are the unsung heroes who keep the show going.

Theatre wouldn’t be the same without the dedication, organization, and quick thinking of the people behind the headset.

Georgia Thespians, show some love to your stage managers! Tag your SM and let them know how much they mean to your troupe!

Congratulations Jay! We look forward to collaborating with you to strengthen the future of theatre education!

We’re thrilled to announce that Jay Gerlach has been appointed Executive Director of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and President of the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF)!

A lifelong Thespian and former theatre educator, school administrator, and district leader, Jay brings a deep understanding of the students, educators, and communities at the heart of our work.

Since stepping into the role of Interim Executive Director in March, Jay has made listening, collaboration, and student voice central to his leadership. We’re excited to have him lead EdTA into its next chapter and help build an even more connected Association.

Please join us in officially welcoming Jay to the role! 🎭

EVERY STUDENT. EVERY COMMUNITY.

It’s National Arts in Education Week! From the stage to the classroom, the arts give students a place to create, connect, collaborate, and find their voice.

Held September 13–19, National Arts in Education Week is a nationwide celebration of the impact of arts education and a reminder that every student deserves the opportunity to experience the arts.

This year’s theme, “Every Student, Every Community,” reminds us that arts education belongs everywhere and that every student should have the chance to create, perform, explore, and grow through the arts.

To all the theatre educators, teaching artists, directors, and arts advocates who make those opportunities possible: thank you for helping students find their stage.

Here’s to celebrating the educators who keep the arts in our schools and the students who make them come alive.
