A couple of weeks ago I created a Henson Bowling Academy promotional video on YouTube. (See attached link.) In it I mention that the deadline is April 15, 2017. Since I am currently out competing on the PBA50 (Senior) Tour until the end of this month, I have decided to extend the deadline date to April 30, 2017. The video runs about 10 minutes. If you have or know of a youth bowler who is strongly considering bowling for a career, he/she needs to watch this video. I feel a need to clarify the difference between Bill Henson's Bowling Academy at Sequoia and the Henson Bowling Academy, LLC. The former is my original coaching business in which I offer private instruction, seminars, clinics, and camps. Recently I brought on Mark Candella as another member who has his own clientele for private instruction and assists me from time to time with the other offerings. The latter, the Henson Bowling Academy, LLC, is an extension of that business with an entire organization built around it. The HBA is for USBC youth bowlers who are strongly considering making bowling performance a career either in the amateur ranks with designs on Team USA or Junior Team USA or as a professional in the PWBA or the PBA. Collegiate bowling is an optional interim step to either one of those career paths. The HBA's mission is to prepare its students for their individual intended career path. The HBA requires applying for admission. When accepted its students commit to an academic year from Memorial Day to Memorial Day. During that year the students attend four mandatory, multi-day camps at Sequoia Pro Bowl in Columbus, OH between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Between the camps and from Labor Day to Memorial Day they return to their home cities/centers and complete assignments under the direction of a member of the HBA faculty, all of whom are at least USBC Silver Certified bowling instructors.

As promised last week, Bill Henson's Bowling Academy at Sequoia is announcing today a major expansion of that business with the formation of the Henson Bowling Academy, LLC. In addition to the traditional private instruction, clinics, camps, and seminars the Henson Bowling Academy is being formed to admit a select group of youth bowlers who are strongly considering making bowling performance a career.

Mission statement: to fully prepare USBC youth bowlers who aspire to elite levels in collegiate, amateur, and professional bowling for optimal success.

An expert staff has been assembled to design, build, and run this organization with a strong group of USBC Silver and Gold Certified instructors at the core.

Applications for admission are being accepted beginning now, due by April 15. The academic year spans Memorial Day to Memorial Day each year with the requirement to attend four multi-day camps from Memorial Day to Labor Day at Sequoia Pro Bowl in Columbus, OH. Between camps and between Labor Day and the ensuing Memorial Day students will be practicing, performing scripted drills, doing research, writing essays, taking tests, and following physical fitness and nutrition plans. The curriculum is designed specifically to not only help them improve as bowlers but to prepare them for a career as a bowler.
