Hey gang, We just learned about the censorship of a recent mural done by Cat Ramos at 934 Gallery. To learn more be sure to follow and .ramos
Censorship is the most common violation of artistic freedom.
Artworks and artists are unduly censored due to their creative content, which is opposed by governments, political and religious groups, social media platforms, museums, or by private individuals. Artists and advocates of artistic freedom are often silenced for questioning social and religious norms or expressing political views that oppose dominant narratives. Even so, regardless of the censors’ rationale behind removing or oppressing art, their actions potentially justify its meaning even more.
We are now accepting entries for our upcoming November exhibition at Brothers Drake Meadery. For more information, please submit 3-5 images of your work [email protected] and place 83 Nov in your email heading.
We accept all forms of media, and all are welcome.

We have some exciting news! We have partnered with Brothers Dake Meadery to bring you a new home for 83 Gallery. The new space is over 1000 sp ft and has one of the best sound systems in Columbus! Over the next couple of months, we will renovate the space and transform it into a premium art gallery.

We have been cooking up a really special reunion show for a DIY gallery that has meant so much to so many people over the years. We were blown away by the number of artists that submitted stunning artwork for the exhibit, and cannot wait to share it with you all. Then came the Bristol Bar shows! Located on 5th and Summit, Bristol Bar was home to the most epic parties the Columbus art community has ever seen. We could do things here that we could not do in our basement. We brought in bands, DJs, fashion shows, and our artists. These parties were legendary and would rage well into the early morning. Art Sales continued to grow, and so did our drive. We were killing it!
We were living the dream! Word quickly spread about the Basement Gallery at 83 W. First Ave. The crowds grew bigger, the art got better, and sales were up! We were getting written up by all of the local publications. even gave us a spot on their blog page!
Nothing could stop us.
We want to reintroduce Lauren Brooks Lauren will go down in the 83 Gallery's history books as our ever first sale! During our first opening on November 1st, 2008, "All Saints Day," Lauren and her husband showed up at 83 Gallery; they had smiles on their faces and a large assortment of artwork. (In the beginning, we would have artists come and drop off their work "hours" before the show opened.) Shortly after the show opened, Lauren sold "Cosmic Flower!" It was at this moment that we knew that we had something special. You can find Lauren and her new work at Blockfort this coming April.
