Beautiful work.
Today’s is a spot of serenity in your busy day! This is “Island of Belonging” by Julie Woodrow.
.
As an art teacher, Julie encourages her students to create their own landscapes with clay that draw viewers in to explore the intricacies of the environments they create—what she calls a “playground for the eyes.” Julie’s own work is also packed with little details just waiting to be discovered, from flora and fauna inspired by the plants and animals in her backyard, to whimsical patterns and colors that make her pieces irresistible.
.
Julie has previously received Ohio Arts Council awards at the Ohio State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, and she is represented by Sherrie Gallerie in the Short North Arts District. Her work merges human experience with the natural world and explores borders, boundaries, and barriers around themes of safety and displacement, restriction and loss, as well as escapism, healing, compassion, and hope.
.
We’ll be sharing more of Julie’s art very soon as part of a special highlighting art around Ohio, so stay tuned!

Artists and creatives are resilient and inspiring. Check out this WOSU Public Media story to see what Brandt-Roberts Galleries, Lindsay Gallery, and Sherrie Gallerie are focused on during this time.
“When I had cancer, one of my therapists said, ‘Whatever you do, don’t get stuck in your illness,’” Brandt said. “I’m trying not to get stuck in the doomsday mentality. I’m trying not to get stuck in the ‘what ifs.’ One thing you learn in cancer is you take it one day at a time, because everything’s out of your control. I think we’ll pull through this.” - Michelle Brandt, Brandt-Roberts Galleries
