Behind every story in our Impact Report is a life touched by your generosity. For Alona and her young son, Max, that support made all the difference.

When they fled their home in Ukraine, support from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) helped them find safety and begin rebuilding their lives.

Today, Alona is giving back by volunteering at a JDC-supported community center, helping others find the same support her family received.

💙 Through JewishColumbus’ support of JDC, families like Alona’s are finding a way forward.

Three years later, we remember the profound impact of October 7, 2023 on Israel and Jewish communities around the world. We carry the memory of those who were murdered, honor the resilience of those who survived, and reaffirm our commitment to the Israeli people and to a strong Jewish future. We will continue to choose Jewish life, connection, and hope.

This Simchat Torah will feel different.

For the first time since October 7, we’ll celebrate knowing that all the hostages have come home.

There will still be grief. There will still be memories. And there will be joy, too.

We’ll hold the Torahs a little closer and remember what it means to carry a tradition that has endured through so much.

Chag Sameach. 💙

JewishColumbus welcomes Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah, when we complete the Torah reading cycle and start again. It's a celebration of endings, of beginnings, and of the stories we carry forward and make our own. May the year ahead be filled with learning, growth, and Jewish joy. Chag Sameach!

A sukkah can be many things—it's a place to share a meal, welcome guests, pause for a moment, or simply enjoy the season. Big or small, simple or elaborate, each one creates a little space for gathering, welcoming and celebrating.

On Sukkot, we bring four distinct plants together, each with its own character, beauty and purpose.

They don’t have to be the same to belong together. In fact, it’s their differences that make the whole more meaningful.

Sukkot reminds us that Jewish life has room for all of our stories, traditions, and experiences. We each bring something of our own, and together, we create connection, community and a place where everyone can belong.

There’s always room for you here.
