The PATIO is HERE!

Last Friday we partied with our Forever Springer capital campaign donors, the contractors who built it, board members, staff and friends who made it all possible. What a night!

The Pierce-Anderson Theatre in the Outdoors (The PATIO) honors two Springer legends: retired Producing Artistic Director Paul Pierce and former Education Director Ron Anderson. It's the newest jewel in Columbus' Cultural Corridor.

The PATIO's story begins in 2021, when COVID restrictions pushed us outside and our Outdoor Theatre Festival drew 10,000 people. When audiences kept asking "Are you going to do more of this?" we got to work.

Four years later, a surface parking lot at 10th Street and 2nd Ave is now a beautiful downtown oasis and outdoor performance space. Thinking about your next wedding, concert, festival or special event? The PATIO is available to rent!

This opening is the culmination of four years of Forever Springer fundraising that also helped preserve our National Historic Landmark, expand education programming, and contribute to our Restoration Fund to keep the Springer thriving for generations to come.

For rental information, visit https://www.springeroperahouse.org/spaces/patio

Today, members of the Springer staff and Board had the honor of attending the Fox Theatre Institute’s ceremony at the beautiful Fox Theatre, where we proudly accepted a grant award of $58,500 in support of preservation efforts at the Springer.

These funds will help support critical exterior repairs and restoration work, including improvements to the veranda, historic woodwork, and other treasured architectural features that make the Springer such a special part of our community’s history.

We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Fox Gives and for their continued investment in preserving historic theatres like ours for future generations.

Thank you for helping us keep history alive.
