The Truth

Everything she put on the grocery list he made sure that it was bought.

Yet he's feeling like the attitude she has is somehow his fault.

She wants to go hang out with the girls to catch up on the tea.

He wanted her to bring hot wings so, "what does her
alone time mean to me?"

He promised the kids that he would spend more time with them.

Yet he continuously disappoints because he makes time when it's convenient for him.

Her independent personality makes it hard for him to get through.

But instead of communicating she fails to realize that women cause problems because of their pride too.

She's done with all the fussing and fighting he's always on the attack.

But she doesn't recognize her worth....so every time she tries to leave something keeps pulling her back.

These situations may not fit anything that you're going through.

But I'm sure that you know someone who'd be able to wear these shoes.

The writing could be on the walls of a relationship but neither party is willing to budge.

However give folks a chance to work out their own circumstances before you begin to judge.

So the next time you're tempted to help someone sing about their blues.

Why don't you try doing a solo about your life...call it...

It's one of life's most precious gifts yet people constantly mistreat it.

And no matter how much you try to get ahead you will never be able to beat it.

We spend the majority of it working for the American dream.

Until we realize that the Land Of The Free cost more than it seems.

Some use it to create priceless moments with family and friends.

Some use it holding grudges never giving relationships an opportunity to mend.

If your circle of friends isn't tight then the list of folks occupying it could get extensive.

And depending on where your tax bracket stands it could also get very expensive.

So be sure to value this entity because to neglect it would be a crime.

Yet millions will ignore my advice and continue to waste...Time.

I often wonder what life would be like if I had a relationship with my father.

Would it make things easier or would it be even harder?

Well I am a grown man now so some would say that it hasn't happened because I don't want to.

But would being rejected again be a bad enough nightmare to haunt you?

Yet it is something that has to happen because I need closure.

So my son won't have to be subjected to negative exposure.

See I'll be present at his first day of school and his first time riding a bike.

But I'm petrified because of the potential for the question, "so what was your experience with grandpa like?"

Now don't think that I am discrediting the fact that my mom has been there since day one.

But if a mother is true to herself she'll admit that it takes a father to raise a son.

When it happens I will be ready to accept him because holding grudges blocks blessings from entering into my life.

And I will give all the credit to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

When TJ was born I dedicated him back to the Lord and vowed that I would be there regardless of what he lives through.

And I look forward to initiating the healing process with my father by saying...I Forgive You.

I stopped worrying about what folks think about me a long time ago...yet I'm still insecure at times.

It's almost as worse as someone who knows that they can spend life in jail but still commits petty crimes.

Between God, family and my ambitions I'm trying to find a balance.

So I can be all that God intended for me to be while maximizing my many talents.

Til the End of Time

I was just getting on your nerves the other day; now we're cuddling up watching our favorite movie letting the time pass away.

I need to do more around the house and help you out with the baby; So I cooked and gave him a bath to show you that I love my lady.

I tell you that you need to dress sexier for me and flirt more often; So you used that gift card to Victory Secrets and those teddies you went and bought them.

I get tired of you pointing out my faults and reminding me of my mistakes; Then we kissed and made up because true love is give and take.

You want me to control my emotions and not wear them on my sleeve; Yet I love that when no one sees the vision I have for our future you still believe.

I want you to talk more and tell me what's on your heart; You smile and say if I would've been paying attention you've been showing me from the start.

I appreciate how you loved me in spite of when I was pinching pennies to make a dime; So I'll be loving you Til the End of Time.

Cheers To You

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting my dad and this may hold true for you too.

Yet I'm thankful for the men that were placed in my life to help me see my way through.

From my older brother, to my cousins, my uncles and pastor.

Who taught me that if I put God first there's nothing I can't go after.

To the man who stayed drunk on the street corner who told me mistakes are a part of life.

To the man who helped create the beautiful lady I call my wife.

To those who father kids that may not be their flesh and blood.

To those who are role models when no one else was.

To all that play a significant part in a child's life keep doing what you do.

This is your day to be recognized so...Cheers To You.

Move Mountains

In no fashion have I lost my passion for the pen.

It's just that lately life has been a little less inspiring.

Maybe I been ducking bullets Satan has been firing.

Or hiding from assignments God is requiring.

The birth of my son has been awe-inspiring.

These first seven months have flown by like the sound of the wind.

I'm learning even faster from my mistakes so that I don't repeat them again.

Realizing it's about the number of people I help and not how much money we make and spend.

I thank the Lord for blessing me with a small circle of friends.

And through wisdom and prayer I won't let the wrong ones in.

This is just a glimpse into my life as I stay focused trying to win.

If I can get out of my own way I'll be able to Move Mountains.

Being Loved

I was so upset about that thing you did the other day.

Then I thought about how I act when I don't get my way.

We had a huge argument about that bill we forgot to pay.

Yet we got our praise on Sunday at church when God made a way.

Some people turn to quick fixes when their relationships starts to sway.

Until they realize that the grass in their yard was always greener anyway.

Some finally wake up to the person trying to reach out to them after they've been pushed or shoved.

I'm glad I was wise enough to realize you...and that I was Being Loved.

I understand you will always be your father's little girl.

But even if I lived amongst superheroes you'd be the center of my world.

Love Affair

They both have so much in common…I just don’t want to choose.

So I’m going to continue to have my cake and eat it too.

I have to meet them out of town sometimes so that they do not cross paths.

Cause if they do I don’t wanna be there in the aftermath.

One works from home; the other at the nail shop.

One likes to listen to nothing but gospel music; the other r&b and hip hop.

One likes to receive surprises for her birthday while the other would rather have the money.

One can be as mean as a rattlesnake while the other thinks everything is funny.

My mom loves them both and so do my sisters and cousins.

And they talk on the phone all the time sharing gossip/laughter by the dozens.

I know that I’m dead wrong and it may catch up with me for living this double life.

But that’s a chance I’m willing to take in this Love Affair….with my wife.
