Southeast Trombone Symposium The Southeast Trombone Symposium is a week-long inspirational event for trombonists. It is held annually at Columbus State University Shires trombones.

The Southeast Trombone Symposium started in 2010 and has grown into one of the finest annual trombone events in the world. Participants work closely with world-class faculty, and can compete for new S.E. Visit the STS website for more details.

~SATURDAY RECAP~

We had an action-packed Saturday here at , here’s how our 15th Anniversary Celebration has been going:
1.) gave his annual jazz masterclass
2-3.) We had yet another amazing and insightful session with our cohorts
4.) Participants play tested everything our wonderful vendors brought to our showroom
5.) gave our final phenomenal masterclass for the week
6-8.) The STS Professors’ Choir brought the house down with works by Biedenbender, Markel, and of course some arrangements
9-10.) and kept the party going with some outstanding jazz playing at

~FRIDAY RECAP~

Our 15th Anniversary Celebration is still going strong at !! Here’s a look back at what we did yesterday:

1-2.) Our Participant choirs had another round of rehearsals
3-5.) Our all-star faculty showed up, showed out, and showed us how it’s done at our annual Excerpts Presentation
6-7.) taught our 5th outstanding masterclass of the week
8.) gave us a beautiful performance of ’s “La Veu del Silenci”
9.) and performed a stellar rendition of ’s “Devil’s Waltz”
10.) It wouldn’t be STS without a few of ’s iconic arrangements, our faculty choir played the Arlington Cemetery Scene from “JFK”, Cadillac of the Skies from “Empire of the Sun”, and Duel of the Fates from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Tonight is our annual STS Professors’ choir performance, and it’s open to the public!! Join us in Legacy at 7:30pm EST to hear trombone faculty from across the country come together and perform!!

~THURSDAY RECAP~

Our 15th Anniversary Celebration is still going strong!! Let’s review some highlights from yesterday’s events:

1.) Vanessa Fralick taught an amazing and insightful masterclass
2.) Our Participants and Faculty played in our second Orchestral Section Sit-In
3.) hosted our second awesome masterclass of the day
4-5.) Our Participant Choirs continued rehearsals for our Sunday concert
6-7.) coached the third outstanding masterclass of the day
8.) Vanessa Fralick blew us away with her performance of Stojowski’s “Fantasie”
9.) and gave us an incredibly fun performance of the Overture from Die Fledermaus
10.) brought it home with a phenomenal rendition of Gabaye’s “Special”

We’ve got another packed day of all things trombone ahead, TGISTSF (Thank God it’s STS Friday) y’all!!

Our 15th Anniversary Celebration is off to a phenomenal start!! Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from our first full day of events:

1.) Our faculty hosted our annual panel discussion on all things trombone
2-3.) taught our first masterclass of the week
4-5.) The participant choirs began rehearsals
6-7.) Participants got to play in our first Orchestral Section Sit-In
8.) Kicked off our first faculty recital with a fiery performance of “Fly or Die”
9.) and Vanessa Fralick played an outstanding rendition of Bizet’s “Au Fond du Temple Saint”
10.) blew the roof off legacy hall with ’s “Violent Shadows”

And we’re just getting started!!
