The tattoo you keep talking yourself out of? That’s the one you actually need.
•
Not the safe version. Not the toned down one that got the approval of everyone you know. The one that feels too much, too visible, too You.
•
& I get why you hesitate. We are wired to want to belong. To not be the weird one. To not get cast out of the pack. That’s an innate human thing.
•
I spent most of my life letting that “need” make my decisions for me. Caring too much about what everyone thought. Editing myself before anyone even had the chance to react. Toning down everything. And it made me slowly resent the people I was performing for until eventually I just stopped performing and became myself.
•
People watched, worried and wondered “wtf is she doing?” and drifted away (some are still watching. 👀)
•
the ones who mattered stuck around.
•
So I say this from lived experience , the people whose opinions you’re carrying around don’t live in your body. They don’t know your story. They don’t know what you’ve survived or what you’re trying to say.
•
They don’t get a vote.
•
Stop asking for permission to be yourself. Get the tattoo.
