"I began working with clay three years ago, starting with hand-building and small sculptural pieces. Recently I’ve developed a deep appreciation for wheel throwing and have been exploring ways to incorporate illustration into my work. I’m inspired by nature and organic forms, using bright colors and floral motifs to bring my pieces to life. Foraging has become part of my creative process. I love exploring for mushrooms and herbs, capturing photos of the wildlife I encounter, and incorporating those natural elements into my ceramic designs.
My background is in art history, so I really enjoy weaving various art movements into my own ceramic work, such as Baroque-style motifs and patterns inspired by the Abstract art movement. Studying historical techniques fuels my creativity and helps me refine my own style. Working at an art gallery has offered me great creative insight, as I’m constantly surrounded by incredible artists whose work challenges me to keep pushing my own creative boundaries.
I create all my work at Spiral Arts Studio () in Willimantic, CT, a wonderful space filled with talented and supportive artists. Being part of this community has helped me grow in ways I never expected. We share ideas, techniques, and a passion for ceramics, creating an environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration, and creative freedom. It’s been an incredible experience to work in this community while pursuing my master's degree. This space has also allowed me to engage in community organizing. I’ve had the opportunity to help organize events that benefit the local community, like our upcoming 2nd annual Empty Bowls Event, where all proceeds support the local soup kitchen. I feel so fortunate to participate in such meaningful work and to integrate these efforts into our artistic practice.
Ceramics has been such a valuable part of my personal growth through creative expression. It has helped me express myself, challenge my skills, and connect with an inspiring community of artists. I’m so grateful for the ways this medium continues to push me to grow."
