The Mediocre Story of How I Was Inspired To Create Germie’s Coaster Yard And How I Did So.
‘Twas the night before I created Germie’s Coaster Yard, and all through the house, not a creature stirred, except for my dog and cat and family. I had had my Instagram account for a solid six months. Not my @gemies_coaster_yard account (which you should go follow), but my personal account. I had been following a small page that posted pictures of my home park, Cedar Point, and I decided to follow in the footsteps of the person who created that page. It was then that I went to my Instagram app and opened up the settings menu, where I selected the option to create a new account. It was on September 17th, 2016, that Germie’s Coaster Yard became, well, a yard where a kid whose friends called him Germie could post roller coaster related content.
Seeing as I had a new name for myself in the world of roller coaster-ing, I decided to rename my YouTube channel, Random1234514, to Germie’s Coaster Yard. It was then that 13 random people who had, for no reason, subscribed to Random1234514 over the years, began getting their subscription-box bombarded with low quality, soundless POVs of coasters I had created in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I did not find much success in gaining subscribers, albeit I have managed to scrape together around 20 since I started. Even in views, I struggled. You may have seen, however, my successful video entitled “Mystic Timbers - What’s In The Shed? - Finally Revealed!” In which I, in a satirical manner, explained why the shed would be a storage unit for barbecue sauce. Due to the timing of this video, a few days before the ride opened to the public, I found myself with over 7,000 views and hundreds of dislikes. That was my own doing, mind you, and as long as YouTube Rewind 2018 is online, dislikes are nothing to fear.
With that, there was only one last step. To make this here page that you have found your way to. I wanted a place to promote GCY. I figured that by making this page, I could share my POV’s and memes and other content to it, and then share those posts to other coaster groups that I am involved in, in order to A. Share my content, and B. bring up that precious subscriber count. I can muster up about 150 views to any YouTube video I share to Facebook if I try, but rarely do I see new subscribers. That is completely fine. I never started an Instagram for followers or a YouTube channel for Subscribers.
That being said, to those of you who are nice enough to follow or subscribe to a guy like me, thank you and welcome to the #peepnation... not that I have a large enough following to really use the word nation with them, but what can I say?
