September is here, and we have a lot happening at 934 Gallery this month!

We’re kicking things off this Friday with our September Opening Reception, along with the opening of “Outside In,” our pop-up collaboration with Shot Tower Gallery.

Then, 934 Fest takes over the following weekend with two days of music, murals, art, and community!

Sneak peek! 👀

The Shot Tower Gallery is hosting “Outside In,” a pop-up collaboration with 934 Gallery featuring indoor works by 20 current and former 934 Fest muralists.

From painting and photography to fabric arts and mixed media, “Outside In” brings the work of these artists off the walls and into the gallery.

Join us this Friday, September 4 from 6–8 PM at Shot Tower Gallery. Just one mile away, 934 Gallery’s September exhibition also opens Friday from 6–9 PM. Two exhibitions, one night, and plenty of art to experience!

👉 Through fiber, mixed media, installation, and layered materials, three artists explore the relationship between material, movement, and sensory experience. Color, pattern, texture, and light transform familiar materials, inviting viewers to look closer, engage their senses, and discover new connections with the artwork.

🎨 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Margarita Vilshanetskaya

Meet Margarita Vilshanetskaya, a Columbus-based fiber and mixed media artist whose work brings together personal history, textile tradition, and contemporary experimentation.

Rooted in her Eastern European heritage and lineage as a third-generation textile artisan, Margarita explores our instinctive connection to fiber and its deeply tactile nature. Her work invites viewers beyond passive observation, using soft fibers, texture, and shifting light to create a multisensory experience. Through this interplay of material and illumination, Margarita challenges traditional boundaries of fine art and invites us to see, touch, and feel art in a more elemental way.

Meet Margarita Velazquez, an Indianapolis-based sculptor whose work explores beauty, imperfection, and shifting perception through color, light, and material.

Working with wire, glass, iridescent film, and other materials, Margarita creates sculptural forms that change as viewers move around them. Translucent surfaces, reflected color, and shifting shadows allow light to become part of the work itself, creating an experience that evolves with perspective and invites viewers to look beyond the surface.
