Today, we remember the legendary Peter Cullen.
Some voices become inseparable from the characters they bring to life. Peter Cullen’s became something even greater. For generations of fans, his voice represented courage, kindness, comfort, and the kind of strength that never needed to be cruel.
Across an extraordinary career spanning decades, Peter gave life to a pantheon of beloved characters in entertainment. As Optimus Prime, he created one of the most iconic voices in pop culture history, bringing a warmth, dignity, and humanity to the leader of the Autobots that made generations believe in him. As Eeyore, he gave a gentle voice to Disney’s loveable pessimist, and his remarkable talent could be heard throughout animation, television, film, and beyond.
But Peter’s legacy was never only about the characters he played. It was also about the person behind that unmistakable voice. His kindness, humility, and genuine appreciation for the people who loved his work were deeply felt by fans around the world.
We were incredibly fortunate to welcome Peter to GalaxyCon over the years and were lucky enough to see firsthand just how much he meant to people. Watching fans meet the man behind a voice that had been part of their childhoods, their families, and in many cases their entire lives was something truly special. Those memories will now mean even more.
Peter Cullen leaves behind a legacy few performers will ever equal and his characters will continue to be loved for generations to come.
