Prompt: When the Ancestors say “enough”

✍🏾 Name a time when you had to make a substitution in a recipe (oil instead of butter, water instead of milk, grease instead of edge control) and describe how things turned out. What lessons did you learn? What improvements did you make to the original recipe?

26/30

I remember when I first learned that there were green oranges. It took me a full afternoon to get my mind around that fact. I thought about what else exists in the world that is different from what I’ve always understood it to be.

Prompt: Cross Colors

✍🏾 Write a poem about something that has a different color than what you’ve always understood. Green oranges, silver teeth, purple daisies. The chosen item can be real (this might make for a fun research project) or imagined.

25/30

Prompt: Picture This

✍🏾 Take a new photo and look at it for 30 mins. Jot down whatever details you see. Walk away from the photo. When you come back to it, look for another 30 minutes and jot down any new details you hadn’t noticed before. Now write a poem about the photo using the details that have emerged.
