There’s something incredibly special about being trusted to create tattoos that represent someone’s children. 🖤

At the Duluth Tattoo Fest, I had the honor of creating these two pieces for Autumn — one for each of her babies, designed around a little piece of who they are.

🌈 For her rainbow baby girl, Aubriella, we created a softer rainbow piece using the beautiful pastel colors she loves.

🌪️ And for her autistic son, Zayden, who is absolutely OBSESSED with tornadoes, we created his own colorful tornado surrounded by puzzle pieces.

Two completely different designs for two completely different little humans — and I love that each tattoo carries a little bit of their personalities with it.

But these pieces ended up meaning something special to me, too.

Autumn and her husband Brandon walked into my booth as complete strangers, and there was just an immediate connection. We talked, laughed, shared pieces of our lives, and by the end of our time together, it genuinely felt like I had known them much longer than a few hours.

Later that night, they sent me one of the kindest messages I’ve received in my 11 years of tattooing, followed by an incredible Google review.

One thing Brandon told me really stuck with me: Autumn noticed the little tap I gave her before I started tattooing her.

It’s such a small thing that I don’t even consciously think about doing anymore. But knowing she noticed it — and that it made her feel respected and cared for — meant more to me than she probably realizes.

Because these aren’t just tattoos.

They’re someone’s children. Their memories. Their stories. Their reasons for smiling. And when someone trusts me to permanently put something that important on their body, I want them to know that their story matters to me, too.

Autumn, thank you for trusting me to create something for Aubriella and Zayden that represents a little piece of who they are. 🖤

And to both you and Brandon — meeting you two in Duluth was genuinely a blessing I never saw coming.

You walked into my booth as clients.

I’m incredibly grateful you walked away as friends.

See you two next year. 🖤

Some people walk into your booth as strangers and somehow leave feeling like people you were supposed to meet. 🖤

Meeting Brandon and Autumn at the Duluth Tattoo Fest was genuinely one of those moments for me.

From the second we started talking about their tattoos, I was excited. Not just because I loved the ideas, but because there was an immediate connection between us. We talked, laughed, shared stories, and somewhere between the stencil and the last wipe, it stopped feeling like I was tattooing two people I had just met.

Later that night, Brandon sent me one of the kindest messages I have received in my 11 years of tattooing.

They told me how much the tattoos meant to them, but what hit me hardest was hearing that the experience meant just as much. That they felt cared for. Respected. Comfortable. That they could tell I was just as excited about their tattoos as they were.

Then they went out of their way to leave me an incredible Google review on top of it.

Man… that s**t means more to me than I can put into words.

Tattooing has given me a career, taken me across the country, introduced me to thousands of people and allowed me to create some incredible art.. but moments like this remind me that the tattoo itself is only part of what we do.

People remember how you made them feel while they were sitting in your chair.

Brandon & Autumn, meeting you two was beyond a blessing. Thank you for trusting some random tattoo artist from Ohio you met at a convention 😂, thank you for sharing a little piece of your lives with me, and thank you for reminding me why I fell in love with this career in the first place.

And apparently we’re already doing this again when I come back next year. 😂🖤

Until then, wear those tattoos proudly.
