The restoration is the foundation of revitalization plans for the King-Lincoln District, providing a bustling hub of activity 365 days a year with performances, rehearsals, and classes in the performing arts, as well as a wide variety of community events such as film festivals, meetings, and receptions. At the Historic Lincoln Theatre, we proudly celebrate the artists, storytellers, musicians, dancers, and visionaries whose creativity continues to shape our culture and inspire future generations. As we reflect on the past, let us continue to support Black art, spread love throughout our communities, and embrace the freedom to dream, create, and thrive.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of James Shannon “Forevadancin” Filmore, a beloved member of Columbus’ dance community, visionary choreographer, educator, mentor, and creative leader. Shannon’s impact on the arts in our city is immeasurable. Through his work with dancers of all ages, his leadership of Tru Kingdom Mega Crew, and his commitment to uplifting artists throughout Central Ohio, he helped shape the next generation of performers while creating space for creativity, excellence, and expression. A graduate of the Lincoln Theatre’s Expand Your Horizon Incubation Program, Shannon continued to use his platform to inspire, educate, and advocate for the arts. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, the stages he graced, and the community he helped build. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, students, and all who loved him. Rest in power, James Shannon “Forevadancin” Filmore. Your rhythm, passion, and spirit will never be forgotten. 🕊️

It’s Thursday, and Honor Him is in just a few hours!

Tonight, we celebrate the incredible men of the Lincoln. The men who work tirelessly behind the scenes 365 days a year to keep the theatre running. The ones who help protect and preserve the culture of the theatre, make sure your cars are safe while you are enjoying a program, ensure that the sound is A1, make sure that your program is marketed properly, help bring the vision set in place to life on the stage, in the ballroom, and throughout the many different areas within the theatre, and make sure that you have access to everything you need while enjoying your experience.

We are beyond excited to celebrate these phenomenal men during Male History Month and Men’s Mental Wellness Month, honoring:

Enjoy a day filled with live performances, local vendors, a DJ, food, art ideation sessions, and opportunities to learn about branding, marketing, entrepreneurship, and the business of artmaking. Whether you sing, dance, paint, create, or simply have a passion for the arts, this is your chance to gain exposure, connect with seasoned artists, and celebrate creativity infused with culture.
