The Ohio Craft Museum Our mission is to engage and enrich the community through high quality exhibitions.

Founded in 1993, the Ohio Craft Museum is a free museum featuring contemporary fine art and craft, with a gift shop, classes and art workshops, meeting space and more. Founded in 1963, Ohio Designer Craftsmen is a not-for-profit organization with over 2100 members. Our membership includes craft artists, educators, students, and others who appreciate fine craft. The Ohio Craft Museum was founded by

Ohio Designer Craftsmen in 1993 to host exhibitions and education programs. Located in Columbus, it is the only museum in the Midwest exclusively devoted to exhibiting and collecting fine craft. Five or six exhibitions of contemporary craft by artists from Ohio and across the United States are presented each year. “My work revolves around the ritual of a meal, including the preparation, serving and display of food, as well as table adornment. The floral patterns that I incorporate are derived from plant and food growth specific to the object’s function.” Says Alison Lowery.
Her porcelain works, Strawberry Basket & Serving Tray were awarded the Phyllis Blair Clark Functional Ceramics Award for Excellence for a Body of Work. See these decadent ceramics, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

“I aspire to create pieces that defy movement, such as bending fired clay and shaping it into new forms, wanting to twist, pull and see what else can do when we push it past it’s limits. Through the assembly of chain-link clay pieces, the work retains the possibility of mobility when pulled or lifted.” says Hannah Slagell.
Her material-defying work, Intertwine was awarded the ODC Award for Excellence. It is on view, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

“I am increasingly fascinated by the echoes of the built environment–traces tied to the hope and dreams of our American entrepreneurial narrative. We discard, we reuse, we forget and we reinvent our cities, often in ways that are non-linear. Most often, it seems, we move on and wonder why things have changed–why areas that were once populated no longer are.” says Anderson Turner.
His cast glass work, Downtown Akron Series #5, was awarded the Labino Award for Excellence in Glass. It is on view, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

“In my work I gravitate towards artistic expression, bringing out the best characteristics of each piece of wood and letting it “speak for itself,” while also pushing the boundaries of what can be made of wood. “Breakfast is Served” is a good example of this philosophy, and while the tray table employs traditional mortise and tenon joinery, with lines borrowed from Art Nouveau style, the challenge for the rest of the pieces displayed was to find the right pieces of wood that would best resemble the real thing; birds-eye elm for the bagel, creamy white holly for the napkin and cream cheese, pine for the egg yolk, and bubinga for the rose…” says Voicu Marian. “And so it is, a challenge and also a joy, seeing a non-descript piece of wood take shape into something recognizable, while spinning on the lathe with chips flying, or the curls emerging, one at a time, raised by the sharp edge of the chisel or knife. The work itself is both exacting and meditative; exacting because you can’t have sloppy joints or it won't hold together, and meditative because it is unhurried and allows my imagination to take flight as I envision the journey of each piece of wood.”
Marian’s Breakfast is Served was awarded the Brian Lonsway Memorial Award for Humor in Craft. See this masterful work in wood, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

Time and place are the common threads that run through my work. Whether the daily events occurring around me or the stage of life I am in, my work reflects those moments of time.” says Kathie Roig. “My interest in the landscape around me and my concern about our planet influence the work that I create.”
Her work, Eclipse, is a handwoven, 8-shaft block double weave with handpainted warp. See this skilled piece in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.

"Often, I show people and animals on a journey; their painful moments force them into a kind of exile where everything is foreign and disorienting. It’s about longing for home and the hope of return,” says Cody F. Miller of his work. “My work plays with the scale of the lost and found often through a creature or human helping the other on the next leg of their journey. This is what keeps me coming back to the studio, capturing these small acts of kindness that quietly begin to illuminate everything.”

His work, Hope is the thing with feathers, was awarded the Challenge Award for Excellence. See this moving piece in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition. https://ohiocraft.org/best-of-2026/

April Felipe’s work explores identity, memory and belonging, drawing from her experience as an American of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. She creates layered sculptures using ceramics and fiber to examine how personal and cultural histories shape who we are and how we present ourselves.

Her work, She Held Her Breath, was created from a combination of porcelain, underglazes, cotton fiber, pastels, wood, gold fringe and punch embroidery. See this stunning work in-person, along with work by 68 other artists, now through July 3rd, in the “Best of 2026” juried member’s exhibition.
