At our studio, we only use body piercing needles designed specifically for body piercing.

Lately the norm is shifting, and more people are being pierced with catheter needles marketed as “piercing needles.” These are not body piercing needles and there is a BIG difference.

Look at the bevel on both needles that angled cutting surface is the actual part doing the piercing.

The bevel on a body piercing needle is longer, sharper, and designed to create a clean, precise channel through tissue like your ear, navel, or ni**le.

The catheter needle has a much smaller bevel because it was designed for a totally different purpose: entering a vein and leaving behind a flexible plastic tube (cannula) for fluids or medication.

That’s very different from piercing through thicker tissue and creating a channel meant to safely hold jewelry.

Different tools for Different jobs. Choose Wisely🩷
