The Poetry Cauldron: Columbus, OH Open Mic Weekly open mic known for chair-flipping, title requests, and gay vampire poems. Wednesdays at 8pm.

Some of you may recognize familiar faces from Writer's Block Poetry, where we were first introduced to the Columbus poetry community. It feels important to acknowledge that we would not be the poets (or organizers) we are without Scott Woods, Vernell Bristow, Louise Robertson, and all the Writer's Block "regulars" over the years.

Tomás Pacheco embodied everything our community strives to be. Remarks on his talent were inevitably followed by remarks on what a kind, empathetic, and goddamn funny human he was. It’s no exaggeration or platitude to say that he and his art will never be forgotten here. Poetry Cauldron Arts Festival was an absolute blast!!

Hosted by Travis McLerking and Felicia DeRosa in a “King of the Hill” poetry slam style format; poets shared stories of confessions, punchlines, prayers, and pieces of their hearts.

Looking at this photo, what stands out isn’t just the sheer number of people packed under one tent.

It’s the Joy !!

It’s how many people chose to show up for one another.

Thank you to every poet who took the hill, every listener who leaned in, and everyone who helped make a little corner of the Arts Festival feel like home.
