EXCITING NEWS about upcoming happenings from Indigo Theater!
We hope you have had an amazing Summer! As August comes to a close and we anticipate the approach of autumn, bringing with it cooler temperatures, hot beverages, and cozy apparel, it is the perfect time to enjoy seeing - or being a part of - some live theater!
October will be a busy month for us, and we hope to see you along the way!

~ First up, from October 16-18, we will be presenting Ivan Menchell's "The Cemetery Club," a comedy that tells the story of three widows living in New York, who gather once a month to visit their husbands' graves and drink tea.
Their status quo is shaken up when a widowed butcher comes into their lives! This bittersweet comedy explores love, loss, aging, second chances, and the enduring power of friendship.
Be on the lookout for more information about the cast, production progress, and ticket information! The show will be performed at The Underground Blackbox Theater, located in the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana, OH.

~ Would you like to be in a play? Have we got an opportunity for you! On October 20 and 22, we will be holding auditions for our Christmas show, "It's A Wonderful Life," a live radio play, performed on stage, complete with a real life foley sound effect artist! All ages and experience levels are invited to audition!
You could play a part in bringing George, Mary, Clarence, and all their friends to life onstage in this unique production of the beloved classic! The show will be directed by Kristine Caporale and will be onstage December 4-6.

OPEN AUDITIONS for Ivan Menchell's "The Cemetery Club" will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 11 & 12 from 6-8 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana!

The production will be presented by Indigo Theater, and directed by Athena Tausch.

"The Cemetery Club" is a dramatic comedy about 3 widows living in Queens, New York, who meet up once a month to have tea and visit their husbands' graves. The play explores aging, loss, love, and the possibility for unexpected second chances!
Casting for all roles!

The roles are:
(Ages are the character's age and not necessarily the age the actor must be.)
- Ida: Female, 50s-60s, lead character. The most charming of the three widows who faces life the most realistically, ready to move on from grief and accept new challenges.
- Lucille: Female, 50s-60s, lead character. The most brazen of the three widows. Has a good time and is always looking to get even with her unfaithful husband.
- Doris: Female, 50s-60s, lead character. The most conservative of the three, refuses to change anything, adheres to her strict principles of love and respect and expects others to do the same.
- Sam: Male, 50s-60s, supporting character. The local butcher, mourns the death of his wife, realizes that life has much to offer and is willing to take a chance on happiness again.
- Mildred: Female, 50s-60s, supporting character. A show-off and a flirt.

Showdates are Oct. 15-18 of 2026 in Columbiana.

Featuring significant roles for 4 women and 1 man (appearing approximately 50s-60s), The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchell allows for stretching both comedic and dramatic acting muscles! Whether you are a stage veteran or just wanting to test the waters of community theater, this is the show for you!

Auditions will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday, August 11 and 12, from 6-8 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana! Audition materials will be provided onsite! Showdates are October 15-18, 2026.

Thank you to everyone who came out to join us At The CAT - Columbiana Arts Theater for "You Can't Take It With You" this past weekend! We're so thankful for your patronage and hope you had as much fun watching the show as we had putting it on!
