When the lights were still on at the Balsams, and fresh snow on Table Rock.

I got up early and drove up after a snowstorm, 1/9/2010, back when I was just starting to get into photography. These shots aren’t “amazing,” but it was still pretty cool to see the lights on at The Balsams—where I worked before I started my business.

After I launched my business, I was still able to work there doing family photos and weddings. When they closed, I was hired for a few years to take photos while they had special guests and for their stock. The last time I was there was probably for a senior photo shoot, and I got permission to access both the ski area and the Balsams side.

Now I only photograph it from the outside—loon shots on the lake, fall foliage and surrounding hiking trails. It is a special place.
