You Are Invited! The American Institute of Architects South Carolina Chapter (AIASC) and the South Carolina Architectural Foundation (SCAF) proudly announce the grand opening of The Center for Architecture on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM.
The newly renovated Center for Architecture located at 1530 Main Street, Columbia, SC will serve as South Carolina’s premier collaboration space dedicated to advancing architectural excellence, design education, and multi-disciplinary engagement focused on the built environment.
RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY
4:00 PM- The grand opening will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from the City of Columbia and Main Street District representatives.
NETWORK WITH THE DESIGN COMMUNITY
Connect with fellow professionals, business, cultural, and civic leaders while enjoying light refreshments before and after brief remarks.
A group celebration with a special acknowledgement of founding donors to the capital campaign. Brief remarks from AIA South Carolina and South Carolina Architectural Foundation representatives. Tom Savory, FAIA, will share insight on his design concept for the renovated space. The evening will include a special recognition of retiring AIA South Carolina executive director, Adrienne Mo***re, FAIA.
We will welcome new AIA South Carolina executive director Robert Harrahill!
Winning projects of the 2025 People's Choice Awards will be announced!
Guest speaker presentation: "Enhancing Urbanism"
John Wofford, partner with Astral Development, kicks off a monthly architecture and design lecture series. Wofford will discuss design-driven mixed-use projects supporting urbanism and sustainable growth in the region, from micro to macro viewpoints.
We hope to have you with us on August 1 to celebrate The Center for Architecture! AIA members, founding donors, industry affiliates, friends, family, allied members of the public, and media representatives are welcome to attend.
