We’re grateful. FreeTimes readers named ColaJazz Executive Director, Mark Rapp, the 2026 Best Local Jazz or Blues Artist. But to us, this recognition is about something much bigger than one musician. And, Rapp more than agrees.

Beyond the stages and performances, what stays with us most are the young people who tell us they’ve found hope or confidence through music, and the educators who see that connection happening in their classrooms.

Thank you, Columbia, for believing in jazz—and in the power of music to build a more creative, connected and exciting community.
