Midlands Gives is today, and your support can help South Carolina Ballet bring professional dance and arts education to students across South Carolina.

This year, donations to South Carolina Ballet will be matched by the Gerald L. and Judith M. Davis Foundation, in support of the arts, up to $1,150.

Make your gift through MidlandsGives.org and help support our Educational Outreach & Engagement Series. Your donation helps provide quality arts education to more than 18,000 students each season and keeps ticket prices affordable, making ballet accessible to more members of our community.

For many students, these performances are their first opportunity to experience professional dance in the theatre. Your support helps make that possible.

We are proud to share that William Starrett, CEO and Artistic Director of South Carolina Ballet, has been awarded the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian honor.

He was surprised with the award on stage during bows at our March 7th performance of Sapphire Ballet at the Koger Center for the Arts, during our 65th Anniversary Season and as he begins his 40th year as Artistic Director.

The award was presented by South Carolina Ballet’s former Prima Ballerina Mariclare Miranda, who Mr. Starrett presented with the same honor in 2006, and Jared Smith, President of the Board of Directors.

The Order of the Palmetto recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary lifetime achievement, selfless service, and significant contributions to the state of South Carolina. The award is bestowed at the discretion of the Governor and is considered the state’s highest civilian recognition.

Please join us in congratulating William Starrett on this well-deserved honor.
