Three Sons. One Crown.
What family doesn't have its ups and downs!

The Lion in Winter

One and all, you are invited to a special staged reading of William Goldman's famous play, The Lion in Winter. This wickedly witty play explores the Plantagenet family's chaotic 1183 Christmas gathering in one of their French castles in Chinon. Henry II has brought his imprisoned wife Eleanor of Aquitaine, and their three scheming children, Richard the Lionheart, Geoffrey, and the youngest son John. Here, the three scheming sons plot, betray, and verbally spar over who will inherit the throne.

The cast includes:

Henry II—Paul Kaufmann
Eleanor of Aquitaine—Linda Khoury
Richard—Chris Aimone
Geoffrey--Jon Whit McClinton
John-Taylor Wilson
King Philip—Patrick Dodds
Alais—Catherine Hunsinger

📅 Sunday, June 28🕒 3:00 PM

Today is Midlands Gives and we need your help! For a quarter century, the South Carolina Shakespeare Company has brought the full range of human emotion to outdoor stages across the Midlands — the comedy, the tragedy, the romance, the spectacle — free for anyone to come and sit and feel something.

That doesn't happen without a community that believes in it. That's you.
