"Reaching As High As The Stars" (2026)

Welcome my first completed piece of 2026!!! 🥳 This piece embodies the transitions from childhood to teenage hood, the rights of passages for black teenage girls, and the nostalgia surrounding those years.

My teenage years truly define who I am today. I was ambitious, docile and extremely caring--always searching for a friend. It was also the start of my self discovery journey of developing my personality and exploring the idea of sexuality.

"Reaching As High As The Stars" offers the viewers to take a second to reminisce on their favorite moments and connect to the nostalgia. This will be on show apart of The Color Black show at curated by Feb 3-28. Come see me and it in person at the First Friday opening 2/6/26!

I just wanted to take the time to celebrate how far this special has came in such a short amount of time! Here are most of the ones I've done since it's started (that can fit!) 🥹🩷

I've been The Art of Khia for going on 8 years now and in that time, I've graduated and been within the post grad stage for a while, worked in so many different mediums, worked a couple of jobs, moved a couple of times now, but none of that has changed my love for creating. I've struggled from time to time with finding what sticks but who would've thought the most basic of things like crayons would have such a huge impact!!!

From strangers to fellow artists, I've been able to take the time to capture each person; intuitively individualized as I like to put it, based on our convos-short or long, our love for arts, or just genuine support. I've fallen in love with this special based on all of this! So thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has interacted or shared my post and especially to those who've BOUGHT a portrait, you have made me a very happy camper 🥰

Another portrait WEEK in the books and this one I showed out! 🔥

Thank you again to everyone who copped at portrait this round, it was an expressive, colorful and connecting bunch this time! These are becoming so much more fun and intuitive, tapping in to the energy to get the perfect colors for you. 🌈

I'll be doing another round this upcoming weekend then there'll be a pause for the October, aka my favorite holiday season. I'm coming back with my Spooky postcard special so keep an eye out for that announcement here soon!!!

I finally got my hands on !! I used these beautiful paints last year during the painting competition. I was simply amazed by them. They're so smooth, deep pigmented and thick, the perfect paints in my opinion!

Happy Sunday! I want to make this a new post series where on Sundays I highlight some of my work that I've been commissioned for.

Starting with this Twitch package for . I did this at the beginning of this year after Page came to me with this idea when we were working together. Although it was something totally new for me, it turned out to be so much fun. And I immediately knew what I wanted to do for them! They came with a list, we brainstormed a little then boom, Magic was made!

This package included: around 10 emotes, hand drawn overlays and even a token for raids. I wasn't too familiar with Twitch and what streaming took but man am I way more interested now! I love their little character and how much it embodies their personality so well! 🤩 Thank you so much for trusting me with this project and allowing me to be such an important part of your channel. 25 was one hell of a year but I survived, I'm living and I'm grateful. But tonight, 5/23, my manta forever tatted on me, I'm celebrating with the ones I love and spending it the way I want!!!

Taking my first deep breath in as I'm entering a brand new era. After 6 months of unemployment, today was my first day on the job and I couldn't be more happier. I'm back in a field that I love, working for a company aligned with my mission, healed from work trauma and grief and finally ready to get my s**t together if I'm being honest.

I want to personally thank my support system, my new and old clients and especially my ancestors/guides for keeping me afloat during this time, I seriously don't think I would've made it without y'all! Now with that said, Theartofkhia ain't going anywhere, I'll just be under construction for the time being preparing something special for my full return! 🥳🤞🏽
