🎟️ WE ARE HIRING a Box Office Assistant for the 2027 True/False Film Fest season!

We want a film enthusiast to join our box office team! The part-time Box Office Assistant will help the True/False Box Office Manager with ticketing and passes for the festival.

This position requires high organizational skills, a strong customer-service presence, and the ability to manage time-sensitive box office setups and daily reporting.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 30, 2026; however, interviews will be held on a rolling basis, and a decision may be made before the deadline ... so apply soon!

🎉 Congratulations to Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and T/F alum Stephen Maing on receiving The Robert and Anne Drew Award for Documentary Excellence from DOC NYC.

His most recent film, "The Great Experiment" — an observational portrait of America during the first Trump administration — premiered during the 2026 festival. (T/F Artistic Director Farihah Zaman was the producer on the film!) Maing's films "Union," "Crime and Punishment," and "High Tech, Low Life" have played in past T/F festivals.

🎞️ Submissions are now open for the 2027 True/False Film Fest!⁠

In its 24th year, the festival continues to question what documentary is and what it can be. We know that it’s often in the space — or slash — between the two where the magic lives, so we actively seek work that engages with reality in surprising and expansive ways. ⁠
⁠
We welcome both shorts, as well as feature-length films exceeding 40 minutes.⁠
⁠
This year we’ve added an early-bird price (our lowest submission fee) until Sept. 15. The next price increase is Oct. 31 and the final deadline is Dec. 1.⁠

Filmmakers will be notified by early February.⁠
⁠

💫 Tuesday night we celebrated the life of our beloved friend and supporter Bill Bondeson. Family, friends, and staff gathered to share stories about Bill and watch one of his favorite True/False Film Fest movies "The Music of Strangers." We are immensely grateful for the legacy he and his wife, Linda, have left on our organization.

Better known as Canaries, these committee members are crucial support to our artistic director and film programmers and are often the first to consider the films shared with us from around the world. No film industry experience necessary; you just need a passion for watching and talking about films.⁠
