The time has come to part with another incredible intern ❤️‍🩹

Audrey has been a wonderful addition to the CAL team this Summer, helping with everything under the sun, from Art in the Park to membership letters! Always dazzling us with her strawberry earrings and can-do attitude, her presence is one we will certainly miss. We wish her all the luck as she finishes her last semester at Mizzou, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.

We love and appreciate our interns for all that they do, and we are always eager to hear their perspectives on current exhibits. Here's what our superb intern, Audrey, wrote about the Bare show!

"Bare is a beautiful amalgamation of ideas surrounding the human form, and a testament to great art and artists throughout history.

The n**e body is a work of art in itself, and the evolution of its extensive portrayal in art is fascinating. In this exhibition, we see ancient artistic trends reimagined in a modern light, along with entirely new methods of portraying the subject matter. The show includes work from every media area, and each one provides a fresh and unique interpretation of the body.

Bare has something for everyone, and I guarantee you will find something in this show to connect to. Come see the show any time the gallery is open until August 30th!"

Now on exhibit in our South Gallery is Paper Frontier, a new exhibit from local artist, Jennifer Wiggs. Jennifer melded mediums with her work in this show, using her watercolor paintings as background to her paper shaping, further abstracting the pieces.

"Working between 2D and 3D has allowed both new ideas and old themes to be re-imagined. This work tends to be either figurative abstraction or purely abstract, exploring shape, line, and color, with an emphasis on spatial cues." - Jennifer Wiggs

You can view this exhibit here at the gallery, Tue - Fri 11:30-6 & Sat 11-5, or you can visit our website: https://columbiaartleague.org/blog/jennifer-wiggs
