Last night at 9:28 pm, we watched Vance’s mother, Jean Voermans, take her last breath, and lost a woman who was truly one of a kind.

Jean wasn’t just part of Brash Rodeo — she was the heart of it for so many years. As our longest running employee, generations of people came through those gates and straight to her ticket booth. Truthfully, some folks attended just to see Jean. Her smile, her wit, her strength, and her unmistakable presence became part of the tradition.

She was a force of a woman in every sense of the word. Fiercely devoted to her family, unwavering in her faith, and someone who loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind.

The last two years tested her in ways most people could never imagine after suffering the debilitating effects of a stroke. Yet through it all, Jean carried herself with a courage, grit, and attitude that few could ever match. She fought hard and loved hard until the very end.

Our family, and so many beyond it, are better because we knew her. There will never be another Jean Voermans.

Please keep Vance and the entire Voermans/Brash family in your prayers during this heartbreaking time.
