Your local makerspace. We make it easier to make stuff! Tool Library ~ Workshops & Events ~ Community Workspace Our goal is to open a physical location in 2025.

We are a new makerspace in the Flathead Valley built by artists, makers and those who care about local art. We want to make it easier for people to create, share & learn together. Through collaborative engagement and a grassroots approach we aim to create a space that is reflective of its community. This summer 2024 we are utilizing satellite spaces to host workshops and events.

🗓️ Mark your calendars for May 31st to attend our Craft and Clothing Spring Swap at Uptown Hearth from 3-6pm!

🌱 Bring your used clothing, craft supplies and extra plant starts to share and swap with your community.

If you have a bunch 'o stuff taking up space in your place, bring it to ours and leave with some new faves! The best part is, we will donate the rest of the unpicked items so you don't have to make another trip to the thrift store.

Entry is free for members/$15 for non-members and you get to leave with as many items as you'd like!

If you plan to bring items to swap, please drop off your donations at The Making Place (On the 3rd floor above Uptown Hearth) 9am-5pm the week before or by 12pm on May 31st!

We couldn’t be more thankful to be one of Park Side’s nonprofit partners this year!

They have helped support TMP’s mission both financially & with dedicated volunteers at a number of fun events.

We've had a number of you tell us that you heard about us on the radio, and that is all thanks to Park Side, too!

Whether they are buying folks coffee during Park Side Pays days, hosting community events like their Run Wild Field Day, helping you get a loan for a car or house, or donating to help nonprofits like us grow, we've come to learn that Park Side likes to say yes!

UPDATE: The stained glass workshop with Hunter Linstead on May 9th is currently sold out! But you can still join the waitlist at the link in our bio :)

Hunter has found his way out of the classic 9-5 through the realization that almost all glass pieces are uniquely hand crafted. Through exploring the business of selling glass he realized how valuable teaching is to the creative process, expecially how it inspires teachers themselves to innovate their own art.

By combining his love of teaching and his desires to spend quality time with younger family members he put together the stain glass mosaics class.

This class is a safe, low equipment project that is a great place to start getting farmilar with glass.

Join us at the Run Wild Family Field Day hosted by Parkside Credit Union and Whitefish Credit Union!

We will be face painting and selling handmade animal ear headbands for the kids!

This fun, family-friendly event will be held at the Columbia Falls Community market and benefits Columbia Falls Elementary Schools, the Boys & Girls Club, and Land to Hand.

There will be live music from Fire Lake Duo and Roots Uprising, a beer garden, food trucks, and games like dizzy bat and a three-legged-race!

Entry is $10/person or $25/family of 4.

We have 6 spots left for Hunter Linestead's Mosaic Stained Glass Workshop!

Learn the basics of cutting stained glass, and setting it permanently in place using grout in order to create your very own stained glass mosaic. Creating mosaics is a wonderful way to repurpose damaged or broken glass, pottery, or other found objects.

We're looking for a contractor to be the Making Place's first-ever Workspace Director!

In this paid role, you will lead weekly open hours, manage tool library checkouts, and collaborate with our board and volunteers to create an organized, welcoming, and resource-rich maker space.

This would be a great fit for you if you are excited about learning new crafting techniques, love teaching others how to use tools, enjoy systems and organization, and are passionate about sharing what The Making Place does with the community!

Thank you all for joining us for craft night on such a beautiful evening yesterday!

It is always so fun to meet new people and see the different projects and crafts you’re all working on, from knitting and crochet to stained glass, jewelry making, collage, and woodworking!

We've added another brass moon phase workshop with Erin Hawley! There is now a second class on Sunday, April 26th as well!

Expect the chance use disc cutters, drill press, hammers, radial sanding motors, and bench jewelry hand tools.
