I am a permanently disabled veteran who grew up as a military brat that spent time growing up on military installations. I am a 3rd generation out of four generations that participated in a military operation in my family ranging from WWII, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Today I try to do my

hobbies as much as I possibly can when my health issues do not get in the way. My speech pathologist insisted I work on something that requires public speaking and doing this has been helping me. I have always been engaged in some sort of art in my life. When I was in high school I created an abstract wood sculpture that went state and received an honorable mention. Because of that sculpture I was informed by a state college that if I applied for a scholarship I would receive it because of my art work. Instead of doing art school I decided to go into culinary arts where creating food was always a love of mine. In culinary school there was a class called pulled and blown sugar and ice sculpting. In that class I took a large liking to the ice sculpting side more than pulled and blown sugar. When the twin towers were hit I knew I wanted to serve my country the way I knew best and that was through cuisines. Being a cook in the Army for the first two tours I did not do any cooking and instead performed several other tasks which later resulted in my permanent disabilities.
