This beautiful Saturday morning, our lobby was filled with parents chatting by the fireplace, little dancers and theater tweens coloring together while waiting for siblings in class, teens prepping a pancake breakfast, and a lobby mom teaching littles how to draw giraffes.

We started Cultivate to provide premier dance training in a safe, joyful, family-friendly environment.

What guides our decision making?

Christian Youth Theater, the non-profit umbrella for Cultivate, operates on four pillars that represent their core values:

What does it mean to offer "small class sizes?"

Many studios have classes with 12 or more preschoolers in a room. 18-20 early elementary students. We've even heard from students who have experienced 25+ middle schoolers in one class!

At Cultivate, we believe every student needs both group and individualized attention and corrections to reach their full potential. If we as teachers can't correct each dancer in our class during every single exercise, the class is too large.

This number looks a little different at every age/level and in each style. This number can even look different based on the blend of personalities and needs of the dancers in the room.

In general, our preschool dance classes max out at 8-10 little ones in the room. Our elementary and middle school kids max out at 8-14, depending on the age and style. And our high school and upper-level classes max out at 12-16, again depending on the style, the size of the room, etc.

How do we determine when to shut down enrollment for a class? It's based on more than the number! We listen to the teachers. We watch the students.

Mark your calendars! Cultivate is hosting our second annual fall potluck and all-dance meeting on Saturday, November 21st.

Why a fall potluck and meeting? We believe that when a student commits to performing arts training, the entire family is committed on some level. Because of that, we want our families to have the opportunity to get to know each other and spend time with each other. All Cultivate families and faculty (dance and music!) are invited!

The mandatory all-dance meeting for Cultivate Dance families allows us to make sure everyone is on the same page, sets the expectations for our Christmas showcase, and provides families the opportunity to ask questions.

We can't wait to spend the evening with you! More details to come.

Cultivate's dance program has two important deadlines approaching!

Our $1.00 registration fee for new students (or students enrolling in additional classes) ends October 3rd! We've had several students take advantage of this sale over the past couple of weeks, and don't want you to miss out!

Already enrolled? Refer a friend and you'll receive a $1.00 ticket to the Christmas Showcase when they enroll!

All students must be registered by October 15th to participate in our Christmas Showcase (no additional performance fee!). We offer open enrollment, but class is even more fun when you get to perform on stage with your group.

“Is today ballet day?!"

It’s the first question my daughter asks every morning.

When you bring your child to our dance classes, we know it's about so much more than lessons. You’re entrusting us with their hearts, their dreams, and the way they light up with joy every time they dance around the kitchen.

As moms, we started Cultivate because we get it. We know the questions running through your head at the studio door—Will they make a friend? Will the teacher really see them and understand what they need to succeed? Is their bun going to stay in today?!

What do classical artworks and dance have in common? A lot, if you're a Rosebuds 1 Ballet dancer at Cultivate!

This year, our Rosebuds 1 classes (designed for children ages 6-8 years old) are studying ballet through the lens of classical art. Dancers are learning about Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

Each class exercise is designed to develop and challenge artistry, coordination, musicality, strength, and technique with excellence and joy. All this in a joyful, imaginative atmosphere that increases their knowledge in other areas of art!
