What are your thoughts on color drenching a room?

Color drenching is an interior design technique where you paint a room's walls, ceiling, trim, doors, and sometimes radiators or built-in furniture in a single, cohesive color.

How It Works

• Eliminates Contrast: Instead of using stark white for baseboards or ceilings, the single hue blurs edges and sharp lines where walls meet.
• Creates a Cocoon Effect: The enveloping look makes spaces feel intentional, immersive, cozy, and high-end.

Design Tips & Best Practices

Using wallpaper on just one wall is a dynamic way to make a statement in a space. Choose the wall that naturally draws your eye or acts as the main focal point when you enter the room.

Best walls for an accent wallpaper, by room:

Bedrooms: Use the wall directly behind the bed and headboard, as it frames the sleeping area.

Living Rooms: Choose the wall behind the sofa, around a fireplace, or behind the main media console/TV.

Hallways and Entryways: Paper the far wall directly opposite the front door to create an instant impact.

Dining Rooms: Highlight the wall against which the main dining table or a statement piece of furniture sits.

A relatively inexpensive way to make a major improvement to your home's exterior is to paint the front door and shutters.

In the photos below we carried the blue from an accent wall we made inside, to the outside of the house by painting over the ordinary white door and shutters. Doing so created a cohesive look throughout this property.
