This was done in Pike National forest in central Colorado. There are a lot of rock hoodoos like this in the forest. Every bit as amazing as anything in Zion or Bryce canyons. This is a large watercolor done diring the Peak Adventure paint out, 17 inches by 26.5 inches.

The Augusta Plein Air in Augusta Missouri is 8 days of painting and 2 days of final judging. The longest event I participate in and by far the most artists! Over 100 and they come from 15 different states. The large painting of the cliff scored 3 awards. Best Theme painting of “ light and shadow”, best watercolor painting, and best of show. I hope to teach a workshop there next year.
