Welcome to Ukiyo-e Dreams. This FB page is a tribute to my father's work in photography. When he passed in 2020, he left behind a treasure trove of negatives and slides among boxes of dusty memories. Now that I am retired, and have sometime on my hands, I have decided to breathe new life into his work.

Ukiyo-e, the floating world, is a concept in Japanese Buddhism that describes the ephemeral nature of life. In the Edo period, it often highlighted a hedonistic lifestyle, but, in the Buddhist tradition, it also emphasized the imperative to live life in the moment. My father often played with Ukiyo-e themes in his work, and it featured prominently in his simple philosophy on life: "be happy."
