💚 SMALL BUSINESS PSA: THIS IS WHY FARM HIPPIE EXISTS. 💚
When we built Farm Hippie, we built it on a foundation of something we believed in wholeheartedly: FOOD FREEDOM.
We believed then, and we believe now, that we, the people, deserve the freedom to choose where our food comes from, who produces it, and who benefits from our purchases.
We believed you should have the choice to buy your beef from a producer across the country or a rancher right down the road. That you should be able to buy Grandma's homemade cookies from your neighbor instead of reaching for a box of Little Debbies. That a family growing vegetables on their own land should have an opportunity to put those vegetables on your family's table.
We believed that the person with a great recipe, a few acres, a little talent, or a whole lot of determination deserved a place in the marketplace, too.
We believed in the right to choose our neighbors over corporations. Small businesses over big boxes. Locally grown over shipped from who-knows-where.
Not because every product made by a big company is bad. Not because everybody has the same budget, priorities, or shopping habits. But because CHOICE MATTERS. Knowing your producer matters. Having access to food made and grown by the people in your own community matters.
And we believed those opportunities shouldn't be reserved for people with enormous financial backing, commercial storefronts, or corporate distribution networks.
That belief became Farm Hippie.
We opened our doors with the idea that if we could bring enough local makers, farmers, ranchers, bakers, and small businesses together under one roof, we could make it easier for everyday people to choose local—and give those producers a real opportunity to reach their communities.
And y'all...
NOW WE GET TO WATCH IT HAPPEN. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. 💚
We watch customers choose meat raised by Oklahoma ranchers. We watch families discover bread baked by someone who lives just a few miles away. We watch homemade cookies, locally grown produce, handcrafted goods, and family recipes find their way into shopping baskets.
We watch people come back looking for a particular maker because they loved what they bought last time. We watch customers learn the names of the people producing their food. We watch small businesses grow because their neighbors decided to give them a chance.
And perhaps the most incredible part? We watch it happening in THREE communities, with hundreds of local businesses participating in something that started as a belief that there ought to be another way.
Sometimes, when you're busy running a business, you can get so caught up in the work that you forget to look at what the work is actually accomplishing.
But lately, we've been looking.
And what we're seeing is pretty extraordinary.
Food freedom isn't just an idea we talk about anymore. We're watching people exercise that freedom every time they walk through our doors.
Every purchase is a choice. Every local product on a shelf represents somebody who took a chance on themselves. Every customer who chooses that product helps make it possible for that business to keep going.
That's not a marketing slogan. That's a local economy at work.
Seven years ago, we believed our communities would show up for their neighbors if we simply made it easier for them to do so.
And LOOK AT YOU GO.🥹💚
This is why we started. This is why we keep going. And this is why, no matter how much Farm Hippie grows, we'll never forget what it was built to do.
Food freedom. Small business opportunity. Community supporting community.
That's Farm Hippie.
And goodness gracious, what a privilege it is to watch it all come to life.
