Archive Gallery is proud to have recently become an official Letter Keeper Shop for The Sunday Letter Project.

What is the Sunday Letter Project: It is a global letter-writing initiative started in September 2025 by Rebecca and Karl of Wildflower Illustration Co. It invites people to take a free pledge to write one handwritten letter every Sunday to their friends, loved ones, strangers or themselves.

Participants can make a personal commitment to carve out a moment to write a letter every Sunday. You can take the pledge (https://www.thesundayletterproject.com/take-the-pledge) as a sign of commitment to yourself. It also helps give Rebecca and Karl an idea of numbers of participants and you receive weekly creative writing prompts, or simply write alongside privately.

Become a part of the growing network of people looking to connect via the handwritten word.

How does the Letter Keeper Network work:  SLP’s shop-to-shop pen-pal network uses local independent bookshops, stationery shops and cafes acting as ‘Letter Keepers’ - allowing participants to exchange mail without sharing their home address. You can participate in this network without having signed our pledge, and there is no requirement to write to your new pen-pal every Sunday.

We’ve received our first batch of introductory letters so stop by the gallery to browse through them. Maybe one of those letters speaks to you or sparks your interest making you want to write back, and just like that, one letter at a time, a connection is made.
 We carry a selection of unique stationary, post cards and greeting cards to inspire you to spend time with the letters you write.

No preparation necessary, just come enjoy the story. All are welcome to participate in reading, or if you prefer, you may simply sit back and listen. There will be an opportunity for discussion at the end.

This event is Free.

Featured photobook: Evidence photographs by Larry Sultan and Mark Mandel. In 1977, American photographers Larry Sultan (1946–2009) and Mike Mandel (born 1950) published a book of photographs titled Evidence. The book was the culmination of a two-year search through the archives of 77 government agencies, educational institutions and corporations, including General Atomic Company, Jet Propulsion Laboratories, the San Jose Police Department and the United States Department of the Interior. The original pictures were made as objective records of activities unfamiliar to the lay public: the scenes of crimes, aeronautical engineering tests, industrial experiments and other subjects. Sifting through some two million images, Mandel and Sultan assembled a careful sequence of 59 pictures. The book was thoughtfully designed to depict the photographs in terms of their “documentary” origins, unaccompanied by identifying captions. Faced with a world of mysterious events and unfathomable activities, the reader is confronted with only the sequential narrative imagery of the book and thus must actively participate in creating its meaning.
Following a revised edition of the book in 2003 and a 2017 reprint―both of which sold out quickly and have become highly collectible―Evidence is back in print nearly 50 years after its initial publication. This new, definitive edition features revelatory new scans―many made from the original negatives―which greatly enhance the eerie objectivity conveyed by the book’s title. In many cases, the original negatives revealed that crops had been made to the image by the agencies; the complete images are restored here. Join us for the opening reception of Cuba: Streets in Color, a photography exhibition by Jason Leavy, on Saturday, April 18th from 5–9pm at Archive Gallery and Bookshop (330 Haddon Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108).
