H.E.B

The first store was established in Kerrville on November 26, 1905 as C.C. Butts Grocery store by Florence Butt with her savings of $60.
In 1916, Florence and Howard purchased a model T ford for efficient and faster deliveries.
In 1921, the store was renamed to C.C. Butt cash and carry.
In 1926, Howald E. Butt opened a second store in Del Rio.
In 1928, the headquarters was moved from Kerrville to Harlingen and the name was changed to H.E. Butt Grocery Company.
By its 25th anniversary in 1930, the store had expended to 17 stores with an annual sale exceeding $2 million.
In 1938, H.E.B moved into Austin with a purchase of 3 stores.
In 1940, the HW was moved to Corpus Christi
September 1949, the store begins transformation into a supermarket with the opening of the first H.E.B drugstore
In 1955, H.E.B had 65 retail stores.
By 1975 on HEB’s 70th anniversary, it had 130 stores and over 7000 employees. 5 years later in 1980, the crossed $1 billion in sales.
In 1987, HEB opens its first video rental center called H.E.B video central.
In 1991, lower prices everyday campaign began. The following year, H.E.B would start its own brands. By 1994, they opened the H.EB gasoline.
In 1997, HEB expanded into Mexico with headquarters in historic Obispado.
In 2012, they opened the first Mia’s boutique store.
In 2013, HEB became the first company to be inducted to the Texas Business Hall of Fame.
In 2015, HEB started a partner stock plan to allow employees have stock in the company.
