Mighty Sound of Maryland The Mighty Sound of Maryland is the marching band at the University of Maryland College Park.

At 240 members strong, the band performs pregame and halftime shows at all Maryland Terrapins home football games. We have a place for everyone: brass, woodwinds, drumline, silks, and dancers. No auditions are required to join, and if you don't have marching experience, we'll teach you!

Dr. Potter 🥹

Throughout his time with the Maryland Bands, Dr. Potter shaped ensembles, inspired students, and connected musicians across the DMV area. Serving as the Assistant Director of the Mighty Sound of Maryland, Director of the Maryland Pep Band, and Director of the Campus and University Bands, his tenure was dedicated to every corner of the program. In addition to ensembles, Dr. Potter also advised the Tau Beta Sigma and Phi Mu Alpha UMD chapters. As he enters a new chapter, we are grateful for the many years of service, leadership, and countless memories.
