!!! Arco fundraiser alert !!!

The global pandemic has been hard on the arts. Our efforts to bring music to our community and educate through the arts have been hampered by this global event. By supporting our fundraiser, your donations will help us to sustain our operations and continue to share our performance and outreach initiatives. Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise $4000 so that we can continue operations and grow as a community-serving organization. We will be planning more live performances and continuing our education outreach efforts with video content and live online presentations. Your contribution will make it possible for a small performing arts organization to continue to make a difference.

Last week, Arco visited the Suzuki string program of the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop for a special Earth Day performance and class. Students shared what images from nature the music made them imagine, and then joined Arco members for a group play-along.

Arco teamed up with Billy Friebele, the 2022 Resident Artist at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, to provide the soundtrack for a short film exploring the process behind his exhibition “Inversion/Submersion.” This project explores the Anacostia River from shallow waters near Riverdale, MD to deeper areas near Capitol Hill using two floating video cameras to capture footage above and below the water surface simultaneously. The artist then created a series of mixed media artworks examining the intersection between technology, humans, and nature, based on what the camera recorded. The gallery at CHAW was transformed into an evolving installation, documenting life on the Anacostia River with input from the community. (2/2)

We’re back! After a lot of hard work on our graduate degree recitals, it’s finally time to collaborate as a group again. Very grateful to be able to rehearse indoors! We’re putting together a private concert at District Center in downtown D.C. next week. More on this and other projects soon...
