Most people only see the wood shims during a pool table install… but the real hero is this little metal wedge right here.

Here’s why:
Wood shims can level a table perfectly, but getting them under the slate without chipping, cracking, or forcing it is the tricky part.

So I use the metal wedge first. It slides in clean, lifts the slate just enough, and creates the perfect gap for the wood shim to go in safely. No stress on the slate, no risk, no cracking.

It’s one of those small professional tricks that makes a big difference in getting the table dead-on level and keeping your slate intact.
