This summer’s Readers’ Theater collection explores the beautifully messy experience of being human — finding connection, rediscovering identity, and navigating change through humor, heart, nostalgia, and hope.
Featuring an eclectic combination of original ten-minute musicals and ten-minute plays from writers around the world, the evening celebrates diverse voices, styles, and perspectives through intimate storytelling.
Set against the backdrop of summertime adventures and seasonal rituals — from beaches, baseball fields, swimming pools, vacations, bike rides, hurricanes, Comic-Con gatherings, and backyard conversations to wildflowers by the shore — these stories are bonded by the spirit of summer itself: a season of movement, transformation, freedom, and unexpected connection.
From outsiders creating art together in Look Inside, to women redefining freedom in Lady Balls, to fathers bonding over trampolines, empty nesters reclaiming themselves, comic-con dreamers, existential seagulls, and unexpected romances, each piece examines what happens when ordinary people are pushed gently—or hilariously—outside of their comfort zones.
Though varied in style and setting, the collection is united by themes of resilience, self-discovery, community, and the courage to embrace new beginnings at every stage of life.
