Something new going on at Horse Shoe Brand, experimenting with machined ferrules rather than the traditional crimped style. How its made, well like so many other leather workers I rely on quality suppliers to the trades. I used Wicket & Craig Havana Bridle https://wickett-craig.com/ in 10-12oz then split down to what I wanted. I like my finished bridles to be in that 11-13oz range in thickness when all said and done. I sewed everything with a fantastic sewing machine, the 205 from Weaver Leather, cant say enough about this machine https://www.weaverleathersupply.com/.../leather-sewing... Lastly I want to mention my edge treatment which is Martin Mix at https://www.martinsmix.com/ but I done things a little differently on this headstall group. I actually heavily washed both top and bottom surfaces with the mix, then burnished top and bottom with a Lexan Slick that I make myself, after this surfaces were smooth and shiny then I tackled burnishing the edges. There will never be a replacement for a kid and thier pony. Yup, I also know the saying that "Shetland ponies" are the reason many kids quit riding. Keep those fingers crossed for this one because so far he has bern just great Yahoo Kowgurl!!
