New Animal Family Alert!

We are so pleased to introduce you to our two new Cotton-top tamarins, Paco and Mateo. They represent their wild cousins in northern Colombia in South American tropical rainforests. They are a New World Callitrichid with an omnivorous dietary budget.

They have a Critically Endangered conservation status. There is an estimated 2,000-6,000 left in the wild. Contributing factors to their conservation status are deforestation, habitat loss and the illegal pet trade.

They are slowly getting to know their new neighbor Lincoln and will have proximity introductions for a period of time before they share the same habitat. On your next visit stop through our Conservation in Action exhibit to say Hi! to our new fellas.
