It is with great regret that we have to make this heartbreaking announcement. Due to several circumstances, including the hurricane that just hit our beloved community. The rising flood waters destroyed around 90% of our props and decorations along with our parking lot and several other items. The Haunted School will be permanently closed. We want to apologize to all our loyal fans, supporters and our wonderful volunteer actors. It’s been a wonderful 9 years scaring y’all and we wouldn’t change all of our fun times for the world. We will miss y’all but don’t fret we may find a new location one day. Till then we love y’all and stay creepy 😭

Update: We got in today after all the water had receded to move items and get a better grasp on the damage. Unfortunately it is as we thought. A total loss. It’s sad that years of hard work can be gone in just a second.

Haunted School Stories (Volume 3)
Fevered

The year is 1930 and a sickness has swept through the community of Fines Creek. Locals were suffering from high 104+ degree temperatures, coughing, blisters, and hallucinations. “The Fever” as the locals began to say. It took the life of several adults and children in the community. At the time of its opening the school had a new nurses office with a state of the art hospital bed that was donated from the county hospital. It was heavily used but in excellent shape. The new nurses office seemed to have everything you could possibly need. It even had a highly trained nurse named Wilda who lived just down the road from the school. Unfortunately with this new sickness called “The Fever” it seemed like she was fighting a loosing battle. It seemed like every kid that had gotten sick and had laid in the new hospital bed shortly succumbed to “The Fever” and passed away. Strangely though the kids that just simply sat in a chair in the corner of her office got better within the week. She thought it might have been where they were laying down causing their lungs to fill with fluid so she reclined a few to test her theory. She got the same results. She thought to herself this bed is cursed. After the thought of this went through her head she thought to herself that she must be crazy. She knew she had to test it. She stopped putting children in the bed or even letting them sit on it and she didn’t loose anymore kids for the next few weeks. She thought this couldn’t be. There’s no way this bed could be cursed. As superstitious as she was and as terrifying as the idea was. She finally decided to face her fears. She herself would lay on the bed. After doing so she felt better about it. She would lay there for almost an hour. She thought it must have been just in her head. She decided she might as well do like everyone else and head home, but just as she went to get off the bed she felt like someone just punched her in the chest then her left arm went numb. She knew what had just happened but what would she do everyone had left for the day and now she was having a heart attack. She never got off the bed that evening and when the janitor came to school the next morning that’s where he found her lifeless co**se still gripping her chest laying on the hospital bed. It is said her spirit still clings to the old hospital bed seeking to bring another soul to her side in hopes to free hers. The cursed hospital bed still calls the old Fines Creek School home and to this day it resides in the basement of the old gymnasium. Right in the middle of our haunted house the bed sits quietly awaiting its next victim.

Haunted School Stories (Volume 2)
Ghost of the woman’s shower stall

The year was 1934. 16 year old girl named Agnes had something that had been on her mind since the new school year had started. She had grown quite fond of her new science teacher. The community had only had the nice new school for around 7 years, but the new addition of the gymnasium building with several new classrooms was only 4 years old. The new building included a cafeteria, health class, weight room, a full basketball court with bleachers above, new kitchen to cook school meals, home economics classroom, a new state of the art science lab, and a few other classrooms. With the new lab also came a young handsome new teacher from out of town named Benjamin. Now Agnes had become quite infatuated with Benjamin from the second she laid eyes on him. He was always on her mind. Whether she was in his class or not she was always writing about him in her school notebook even drawing pictures and daydreaming about the two of them together. One day while her best friend Janet and her were talking Janet suggested she tell him how she truly felt about him. This conversation went on for a few weeks. Finally Agnes got the courage up and professed her love to Benjamin. In response he explained he did not feel the same way about her and how it would not ever work out for the two of them since he was 23 and she was just 16. He gave his word that he wouldn’t let anyone know and they went there separate ways. Days later he was talking with a fellow teacher and accidentally let it slip about what she had said to him in private and a student overheard from outside the room. The student and his friends began mocking her and making fun of her. They even started calling her horrible names and telling rumors which spread all around the school and the community. She felt alone, ugly and unwanted in this world so she did the worst thing imaginable. One day while she was cleaning up in the girls showers after P.E. she couldn’t take it anymore and decided to slit her wrist thinking she had nothing else to live for. Realizing immediately afterwards she had made a horrible mistake she tried calling out for help but when she went to leave the shower she started getting lightheaded from the blood loss and she slipped in a puddle of water and her own blood. Causing her to fall striking her head on the concrete divider between her stall and the next. It opened a large laceration in her scalp. Her best friend Janet who had been looking for her all over school arrived to find her, but it was too late. Her cold lifeless body lay on the shower floor covered in blood. To this day on cold rainy nights it is said that sometimes around midnight to three in the morning throughout the basement of the gymnasium. You can hear crying and clawing coming from the old shower stall where she met her ill-fated end.

Haunted School Stories (Volume 1)
The Lady In Black

According to legend, a Woman in Black typically appeared to men who had misbehaved, cheated on their wives, or committed some moral transgression.
Folklore holds that towns such as Bristol, VA, Tazewell VA, Lynchburg VA, Richmond VA, Jackson MN, and now Clyde NC have been visited by a Woman in Black. According to one tale, she appeared "suddenly and unexpectedly" in Roanoke VA in 1902 to men who had stayed too long at their club, insisting they go home as quickly as possible. Sometimes a Woman in Black was said to hit, pummel, or knock a man down to the ground or "slap him to the earth with a swish of her phantom garments" as retribution for his sins. If continued, the men would be killed at the location where he committed his act.
It is said that she has been spotted on several occasions in the Fines Creek Community Center gymnasium by renters and guest alike. She was once spotted by a couple who was running dances on Saturday nights in the gymnasium. One night after everyone had went home the couple were locking up and went to the back of the gymnasium where the light switches are to turn them off. Upon doing so they herd something behind them thinking it was a customer returning for something they turned around to see who it was. In there dismay it was not a customer but a lady standing in the middle of the floor. She was wearing a long black dress and a vail that covered her face. When they asked her if she needed any assistance she vanished before their eyes. The couple ran screaming out of the building failing to lock up for the night. The next day they came to one of the board members to pay their rent for that night and told them what had happened and what they saw in the gymnasium. They said they would never be back the husband whom was Native American kept saying “otshee monetoo, otshee monetoo, otshee monetoo”. We decided to look it up after they had left and according to our research it translates to bad spirit. There have been several other people since that who have spotted her even in the basement of the gymnasium. The basement of our gymnasium now houses are haunted house that is appropriately named the Haunted School. We also have started collecting and storing several haunted items in our haunted house. There have also been sightings of a few other apparitions in the basement and other buildings, but we will save those stories for another volume in our Haunted School Stories Series.

Just like the story of Spreepark Germany nature is slowly taking over in the abandoned boiler room of the Haunted School. You never know what monsters may be lurking within its crumbling walls.
